Repentance is widely known as a "cheat code" means of escaping from sin that many freely and liberally employ, to the point that it seems almost like a right. But, 6:13 AM • Thursday, January 28, 2010
Restore us to yourself, O LORD, that we may return;
renew our days as of old - Lamentations 5:21
It is not 1st for His people to return to the Lord and then be restored. In fact, without God's approval, we can't even repent.
God has absolute authority over all things. It is God who graciously allows us to repent, not because of our ability to repent that we are made right with God. Recognizing that is the 1st step to reconciliation.

The flare burns at more than 2,000 degrees Celsius!
Olympic flame goes underwater
The torch spent three minutes in a popular diving spot
Its intensity is produced by a mix of oxygen-generating chemicals as well as the combustible element magnesium in a finely powdered form. This causes enough pressure from within to stop seawater from entering the tube that contains the combustion.
Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire,
like a mighty flame.
Many waters cannot quench love;
rivers cannot wash it away.
If one were to give
all the wealth of his house for love,
it would be utterly scorned.
- Song of Solomon 8:6-7
The tide of worldly desires threatens to quench the passion for Christ.
The combustion of the flame of passion for Christ has got to be at an intensity strong enough to withstand the water from extinguishing the torch.
